Summer Assignments 2020

Summer Reading Assignment

Every year all SHS students in Grades 9, 10 11 and 12 engage in a common book analysis for their summer assignments but, due to the uncertainty of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, we have suspended this common book analysis. Nevertheless, we encourage all students to read as much as possible due to the fact that reading has been shown to be a main contributor to academic success. As such, we have compiled a list of recommended works for the 2020 Summer Reading:
  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
  • This I Believe: The Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women by Jay Allison and Dan Gediman (Editors)
  • Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul Letters: Letters of Life, Love, and Learning
  • The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch
  • Failing Forward: Turning Mistakes into Stepping Stones for Success by John C. Maxwell
  • The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
  • Who Will Cry When You Die: Life Lessons From the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma
  • The Willpower Instinct: How Self-Control Works, Why It Matters, and What You Can Do to Get More of It by Kelly McGonigal
  • Make Good Art by Neil Gaiman
  • We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
