SHS/SMS Students Join Together to Dance for a Cause

The event was held from 5-8 P.M in the Performing Arts Center where Secaucus's students danced for charities that were near and dear to their heart to songs from various decades.

Students arrived decorated in their team shirts that they created in support of their charity. Charities included the Secaucus Animal Shelter, UNICEF, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Trevor Project, Make a Wish Foundation, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Autism Speaks, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, J-Shine amongst many others.

The energy of the students was contagious as they competed to be the last team dancing. The unity amongst Middle School and High School students showcased just how much they embraced the purpose of the event. This was a surely a sight to remember.

Ten teams made it to the dance off portion of the contest where the winner was selected by the applause of the crowd.  The winning high school students, Steven Li, Louis Terrarosa and Gabriel Rocha selected St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital as their charity of choice.  The group as a whole was able to raise over $1045.00.

Each winning team member was also awarded a $50 gift card donated by the Middle School PTA.  The second place Middle School Team was also awarded a $50 team gift card. Winners included Arielle Nunez, Mia Cruz, Alexandria DeIasi, Deborah Biru.

A special thank you to the parent and teacher volunteers, Middle School PTA, our security team, custodial staff, community members and all those who helped to make this night a huge success!
