Dr. Leite is Nominated for the LifeChanger of the Year Award!

A little about Dr. Leite:

 

Dr. Leite is an amazing high school English teacher who has also been selected as the Secaucus High School 2022/2023 Governor’s Educator of the Year. Dr. Leite has obtained his English degree from Rutgers University, a Master’s on English Education from Rutgers University, a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Montclair University , and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Northeastern and he is currently completing his 12th year in the Secaucus School District. Dr. Leite is not only a master teacher, but an outstanding mentor, motivator and role model. His passion for teaching is infectious and he is a model for excellence. Dr. Leite has high expectations and always makes an effort to make sure his students have the best possible learning experiences. He has great ability to connect with each and every student and to nurture their full potential, and that commitment does not end on graduation.

 

This is the time of year that many college semesters come to an end and students return home. Dr. Leite’s students always try to schedule time with him after school or meet him for lunch so they can update him on their experiences and I’m sure to receive some useful advice. Dr. Leite is rarely alone, students are with him early in the morning, during lunchtime, and after school, but this is no surprise. His classroom resembles more a living room than it does a classroom, which is a show of his dedication as an educator to take the time to create such a warm and welcoming environment.

 

He is constantly seeking ways to engage his students by making the material relevant and fun and his dedication is not limited to the classroom but extends to extracurricular activities where he has served as a class advisor for the Class of 2017 and Class of 2021. He is currently the anime advisor, the National English Honor Society advisor, the website manager, and is a former SGO advisor and he is volunteering his time as the Powderpuff coach and, most recently, the Poetry Cafe.

 

Dr. Leite has high expectations for students and will work tirelessly to help them achieve their goals. Dr. Leite possesses an unwavering commitment and leadership, and we are fortunate to have him as part of our school district.
