Dance-A-Thon for Charity Event SHS/SMS Students Join Together to Dance for a CauseOn Thursday, October 24th, the Secaucus S.A.I.L. students and Secaucus Middle School S.G.O., under the direction of Ms. Stacey Lee and Ms. Toni Ann Palmisano, came together at the school's third Dance-A-Thon for Charity Event. The event was held from 5-8 P.M in the Performing Arts Center where Secaucus students danced for charities that were near and dear to their heart to songs from various decades. Students arrived decorated in their team shirts that they created in support of their charity. Charities included the Secaucus Animal Shelter, Hudson Animal Shelter, UNICEF, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Trevor Project, Make a Wish Foundation, American Red Cross, Innocence Project, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Ï Pink I Can" Breast Cancer Research, Autism Speaks, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, J-Shine amongst many others. The energy of the students was contagious as they competed to be the last team dancing. The unity amongst Middle School and High School students showcased just how much they embraced the purpose of the event. This was surely a sight to remember. Two teams made it to the dance off portion of the contest where the winner was selected by the audience. The two remaining teams this year ended in a tie. The winning high school students, Amanda Jasiczek and Ethan Delemos selected The Trevor Project as their charity of choice. The winning middle school students Liana Romero and Anaya Foncesa selected the Secaucus Animal Shelter as their charity. The group as a whole raised $810.00 Each winning team member was also awarded a $25 gift card. We were fortunate enough to have SAIL alumni to help aid us in judging the event. Mayor Gonnelli was kind enough to provide us with a drink donation from the town. Our school district was recognized yet again on the hit radio station, KTU 103.5, for the hard work and dedication of our high school and middle school students. A special thank you to the parent and teacher volunteers, our security team, custodial staff, community members and all those who helped to make this night a huge success!
