 ¡ Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spanish l class!

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ALL REVIEWS,ASSIGNMENTS, QUIZ/TEST DATES WILL BE GIVEN VIA GOOGLE CLASS.

   Spanish is an essential subject in today’s global community. It can also open a new world of relationships and understanding.

Course Description:

    The Spanish l level course is designed to develop the four skills of: listening, reading, speaking and writing. Students will use these skills in order to effectively communicate in Spanish. Additionally, Students will explore many different Spanish-speaking countries and their cultures. The textbook Realidades level 1 (Prentice Hall) will be used in the classroom.

      Grading:

     The following weights are given for each assignment:

Tests/Projects= 40%

Quizzes=30%

Class participation= 20%, including but not limited to: individual and group work, class behavior and attention, following class rules, note-taking and coming prepared to class, volunteering in class as well as overall effort and attitude.

Homework=10%. Assignments will be given to reinforce class work and will be checked. Homework may be collected and graded as a quiz as well.

Requirements:

     The following supplies are mandatory and must be brought to class:

  • A big notebook for note-taking and class exercises or a binder.
  •  folder for handouts and homework papers
  • A pen and pencil
  • All students will be required to sign up on Google classroom. I will provide the access code. All assignments and tests will be posted here.

 Absences:

     If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up the class work and homework in a timely manner. If you are absent for a quiz or test, you are responsible to take the exam the day you return or after an extended absence, 3 days after return.

 

 

Classroom rules

    - Arrive to class on time.

    - Be respectful of each other.

     -When you enter the class, sit and do work assigned on board while attendance is taken.

     -Come to class prepared with notebook and a pen and completed assignments.

     -cell phones will be collected before each class and returned after class is finished.

     -when students use computers or cell phones it will be for learning purposes only and with the teacher’s permission.

     -Bathroom use-2 persons only per class unless it is an emergency.

     -Visits to the nurse are for emergencies only such as illness, not for bathroom use.

     -detention will be given for infractions of classroom rules such as not doing homework and/or classwork, for behavior issues.

  Tutoring:

     I am available for tutoring. Please see me before or after school to arrange a mutually convenient time. If you need additional help, please check realidades.com for helpful review and extra practice. Also check my teacher’s web page for online links about the topics covered in class.
